FAQ ABOUT NUTRO™ BRANDS | HOW WE MAKE NATURAL PET FOODS
NUTRO is an entirely natural product with a relatively short 12-month shelf life and is produced in one of our US factories. Unfortunately, disruptions to shipping have extended the time it takes for shipments to arrive in New Zealand. The combination of extended shipping lead times and short shelf life has resulted in irregular stock levels, and disruption for both our customers and for you as pet owners.
We recognise it is frustrating and inconvenient for you and your pets when NUTRO is out of stock, and we have therefore made the difficult decision to temporarily withdraw NUTRO from the New Zealand market.
We appreciate this is disappointing for all pet parents currently feeding NUTRO to their dog or cat. We hope to bring NUTRO back to you and your pets when we can provide a more reliable supply. This may take some time and in the meantime we thank you for your patience and support of NUTRO. We will update this page with further information when it is available.

Due to shipping disruptions we are unfortunately already out of stock of majority of NUTRO products.
We hope to bring NUTRO back to Kiwi pet parents and their cats and dogs. Before we can do this we need to make sure we have a regular supply of NUTRO into NZ, and that it stays fresh long enough for your pets to enjoy it.
We would love to bring an alternative natural pet food to NZ, and we’re continuing to work on this.
NUTRO is a high-quality natural product, and there are many options that could be recommended.
From the Mars Portfolio we have ROYAL CANIN, EUKANUBA and IAMS which are all high-quality foods that provide tailored nutrition for pets individual needs. All of these products deliver on Mars Quality principles. If your pet has very specific dietary needs and you are concerned about changing to a different food, please reach out to your veterinarian for advice.
If changing formulas, we suggest you blend increasing amounts of the new formula with your old dog food for at least six days.
First 2 Days: 75% existing food and 25% new food
Second 2 Days: 50% existing food and 50% new food
Third 2 Days: 25% existing food and 75% new food
Ongoing: New Food
No new loyalty cards will be issued for NUTRO. Mars will continue to honour any existing loyalty cards in trade. Free bags can be redeemed with NUTRO where it is still in stock, or if not in stock, from a choice of IAMS, GREENIES Dental Treats, EUKANUBA, or ROYAL CANIN.
